Do you see what I see?
Alongside with my “HAPPY EVERYTHING TO EVERYONE!” series, here’s another series i’ll be doing called “Do you see what I see?”. It’s some of the serious thoughts I’ve had leading up to Christmas.
Let’s face it, people struggle, and we all have our vices. But what joyful news it is that God sent his son to give us hope! It was a gift of hope to: non-Christians, Christians, you, and to me. Through the coming of Christ, whatever is good to us will never be lost, and whatever is evil we carry may be changed. There is hope that the “bad” in our lives can be changed.
Life is good and precious to us, and we don’t want to lose it. If we don’t have life, then we certainly have nothing. “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?”(Mark 8:36). God’s love for us is what makes life precious, and that our life can be saved through the gift of Christ, the source of our salvation. Whenever we find ourselves slipping and falling apart, God is there to catch us and restore us.
All the evil and struggles we carry can be changed. Addiction can be changed. Fear can be changed. Our short tempers can be changed. Selfishness can be changed. Christ was sent to us to save us from our sinful nature and prevent us from saying, “That’s just how I am”. We shouldn’t minimize God’s grace and mercy, and think that he cannot change us.
We are not saved from sin and made righteous for the sake of pride but for the sake of praising God, and glorifying him. 1 Timothy 12-17 is a great illustration of why Christmas is important to me. The birth of our Savior allows us to cling onto what is good and saves us from our bondage to evil.
“God loves us the way we are, but loves us enough to not leave us like that.”
